When Family Means Business: How the Taylors Work Together

Family is at the core of everything we do at James R. Taylor & Sons, and we mean that more literally than most. For four generations, the Taylor name has been synonymous with quality general contracting across Southeastern Wisconsin. But what makes our story a little different? It’s not just the kids who showed up. The spouses did too.

Jim and Stevie Taylor built more than a contracting company. They built a family that genuinely enjoys working together—and somehow, we all do.

Jim Jr. has worked in the construction industry since he was a teenager, running jobsites and roofing crews from a young age, with Stevie right beside him through the long days, navigating each season of business with grace, resilience, and hard work. Today, Jim oversees all departments of the company and still enjoys getting out in the field to educate homeowners about our industry. Behind the scenes, Stevie Lynn manages the company’s finances and accounts, helping keep everything running smoothly. Along with her favorite role in life of being a mother and grandmother.

Their son, James R. Taylor III (Jimmy), leads Sales and Management, guiding projects from the first handshake to the final walkthrough. Jimmy’s wife, Lucianna Taylor, brings her eye for detail to her role as Principal Designer at Taylor Design & Co., the in-house design division that sets James R. Taylor & Sons apart from the average general contractor.

On the other side of the family, their daughter, Haley Taylor Newhouse, oversees Marketing and Business Operations, keeping the brand, systems, and day-to-day operations moving forward behind the scenes. Haley’s husband, Andrew Newhouse, is out in the field every day as Foreman of Exteriors, ensuring the work on the outside of your home is held to the same standard as the work within.

Each person has their lane. Each division has its strength. But at the end of the day, whether that be at a dinner table or a meeting, it all comes back together.

That’s the Taylor way.

A letter from the Editor

Okay, I’ll be honest. I might be a little biased here, but being such a big part of this business and watching my parents pour absolutely everything they have into building something that thrives for our whole family is truly mind blowing. I could not be more proud of what they have created. I grew up watching my dad show up to jobsites before the sun came up and my mom hold everything together behind the scenes, and somewhere along the way that work ethic just became part of who we are. When Jimmy married Lucianna and Andy became part of our family, it wasn’t long before they were part of the business too. Not because they had to be, but because they genuinely wanted in. Lucianna has an incredible eye for design and she’s taken Taylor Design & Co. to a whole new level. And Andy? Watching him lead a crew and take ownership of every exterior project like it’s his own home, that never gets old. We don’t always agree on everything (we’re family, after all), but we show up for each other every single day, on the jobsite and off it. That’s something I’ll never take for granted.
